SET WORK & SCENICS
"On a bigger scale I am very comfortable working with wood, steel, polystyrene and combined with my knowledge of design and construction I have led and built some large and exciting set works."

This was a themed restaurant in the Yorkshire Wildlife Park. My brief was to to design and build a ship that was also a bar.
These are some of my 3D concept images.
Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Ship/Bar
Cod Steaks.

From the 3D concept model I was able to build a 3D construction model. next I led the team through the construction of the ship.

I built the sub frame from rolled 50x50 box section steel and laser cut plates.
The whole structure had to be broken down into sections for transportation.
I unrolled the complicated plank shapes off the cad model in to flat shapes. next they could be CNC cut from ply wood and "lofted" on to the physical model.
Here we are starting to add
dressings and embellishments.

Rocks and Rock Temple.
Cod Steaks.

My role was to produce some 3D concept drawings for the Yorkshire Wildlife park.
I also had a lead role in the construction of the Temple and rock work.
Temple based on Petra, Jordan.

Temple and rocks carved from poly and PU sprayed on site. I used a mixture of hot wire and carving tools to produce a soft wind swept, rock finish.
Other examples of scenery I have built and art worked using wood, poly and plaster.

"Texturing, painting and finishing is one of my favourite roles, being able to bring an object or environment to life, by giving it the elusion of weight and create an atmosphere!"
